Benguerra Lodge exudes an East-African-cum- Arabic decor in line with the ancient tradition of the Archipelago, once the playground of the Queen of Sheba and the trading route of old Arabia.

While it is an island lodge, care has been taken to maintain the feeling that one is nevertheless embarking upon an African marine safari.

At night one may experience the wonderful whisper of a gentle sea breeze brushing the cheek or the squeak of clean sand as one walks along the half-moon beach of Benguerra Bay on a full-moon night.

The exclusive, luxury thatched Benguerra Lodge, set in the tranquil natural milkwood forest bordering Benguerra Bay and encircled by silver beaches, coral reefs and turquoise seas offers visitors a wide range of activities, or just the opportunity to 'chill out'.

The main lodge building comprising of Reception Area & Gift Shop, Lounge & Bar, Dining Room, Library and large deck area. On the large deck area, guests can enjoy a cocktail and sit back after the day's events.

At Benguerra Lodge we constantly strive to improve our guests’ overall experience. With this in mind we have, since the end of January, slowly introduced an informal Moçambique style butler service. The butlers were sourced from existing staff who volunteered for the intensive Butler training program. The butlers have really embraced the program with great enthusiasm and take pride in caring for their assigned guests.
Guests staying in the Casitas are assigned a personal butler on check-in to look after them for the duration of their stay. In keeping with our style of “bare foot luxury” our butlers are informal and friendly, adding a very special, personal touch to every guest’s visit.

Cabanas:

Each Cabana has it's own private deck with jacuzzi/plunge pool, hammocks and sun loungers; a mini-bar; tea & coffee making facilities; a large bathroom with bath and shower and a gorgeous outdoor shower.

The Exclusive Villa at Benguerra Lodge

Launched in mid-2003, this exclusive, private Villa is ideal for honeymoon couples and family special occasions. Set away from the rest of the complex, guests enjoy total privacy. A personal chef is available to prepare all meals. However guests may have any meal at the Lodge should they wish to.

The Villa is decorated in East African style and consists of two double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, intimate lounge and dining area with hand carved mahogany table. Outside on the wooden deck is a Jacuzzi/plunge pool for relaxation.

The stay at The Villa includes 3 meals per day, all drinks, daily laundry, medical rescue insurance, 17% Mozambique tax, 1 snorkel trip, 1 Landrover trip with picnic lunch and 1 dhow sunset cruise.

Cuisine

Freshly caught fish, calamari and crab are tantalisingly prepared together with exotic Portuguese dishes. Meals are relaxed affairs served in different settings and always with unsurpassed personal attention.

Picnics

Picnics are a speciality of Benguerra Lodge. The staff will set up your own private picnic either on the beach or in a secluded shaded spot.

Benguerra is a snorkeller and diver's paradise. The Lodge has a fully equipped diving facility to take you to breathtakingly unspoilt reefs. In crystal clear waters, watch the vast array of jewel-like fish and the extraordinary shaped corals.

Adventure

For the more adventurous, there's the thrill of a night dive or diving to one of the many wrecks in the area.The Moçambique channel offers anglers the experience and exhilaration of fighting marlin and other game fish.

The Lodge has a professional and fully equipped team with 6.6m Acecats to take you into the deep. Saltwater fly fishing is also available with the Lodge's cutomised fly-fishing boat. First-time fishermen will be helped every step of the way.

Beguerra Lodge, well it is one of the last paradises.  I loved their authentique décor, (by far the prettiest lodge in the area) the comfort, and the privacy.  Fishing with Graham was one of the best experiences I have ever had.  We saw whales, dolphins, sea turtles, and lot's more !!  The staff were very freindly and helpful.  Everything was superbe !!
