Already well established on the island of Benguerra, Azura has now opened on a private island in the Quirimbas Archipelago.
 Quilalea Island is a unique island marine sanctuary, fringed with pristine beaches and surrounded by the tropical Indian Ocean. Just 35 hectares in extent, this Indian Ocean island offers the ultimate in seclusion and privacy, with the only residents being the Azura's guests and staff.
Azura has redeveloped and re-launched the former island lodge. Azura at Quilalea Private Island - managed by the same award winning team, and will put the stunning island back on the map as one of the country’s top beach destinations.
Spend your days simply soaking up the sun by the swimming pool or on the pristine, white beaches or choose from the many adventure activities on offer on the island. Diving, snorkelling, fly fishing, sport fishing, canoeing, island exploration, swimming, historical tours, dhow sailing trips and bird watching are all available.
The island has its own water spots centre, which is a fully equipped fishing and PADI dive centre. Sport fishing and deep- sea angling are offered outside the sanctuary where game fish are plentiful.
The six month renovation involved redeveloping the entire infrastructure, expanding facilities and upgrading villas. Developments include a completely new water sports centre to fully embrace the island’s fantastic diving, a refurbished bar and relaxation area, a state of the art TV and Media Room and a new kitchen in which to recreate Azura’s fine cuisine.
The nine villas have been expanded and beautifully revamped in that subtle yet stunning Azura way, with spacious bathrooms, natural furnishings and pure African elegance. There are three categories for guests to choose from; Sunrise Villa’s with stunning sea views, Sunset Villas with a beachside sala and refreshing outside shower and Villa Quilalea – an exceptional property on the cliff top with alluring plunge pool and breathtaking views over the Indian Ocean.
The attentive staff that have been one of the main attributes to Azura’s success work closely with those at the former Quilalea to ensure that guests continue to receive the notoriously impeccable service. Azura’s management team is in place to ensure everything runs as smoothly as on Benguerra Island and operations will come from the same Head Office.
