Private Game Reserves - Balule Game Reserve

By the end of the nineties, the transformation to the Balule Reserve was almost complete, fences had been removed over most of the area, and the landowners had joined forces to gain admission to the Kruger National Park. Farms across the Olifants River also joined the initiative, and negotiations continued into 2004 which allowed for the fences between Klaserie, Timbavati and the Kruger National Park, to be removed.

This has allowed lion, cheetah, leopard and many other species to flourish in the Reserve.

Large numbers of elephant, buffalo and even some rhino now move freely between Balule and the Western border of the Kruger National Park, and this reserve, still in the hands of private Landowners has become a success story from game viewing and game management perspective.
