Chundukwa River Lodge

Chundukwa is set on the green banks of the famous Zambezi River, just some 25 kilometres upstream from the Victoria Falls. The Lodge enjoys excellent views of the River, Chundu Island, and faces Zambezi National Park, on the opposite bank. The area is known for its wildlife, and there are regular sightings of hippo and elephant in particular. For the keen birder, there are a good number of species, which can be seen within the Lodge surroundings.

Accommodating only 10 to 12 guests, Chundukwa is a small, intimate lodge. This allows for personalised service, and a relaxed atmosphere. The Lodge was built to blend into its surroundings, and accommodation is stilted, open-fronted, chalets, each of which enjoys an uninterrupted River view. The chalets are also equipped with fans and mosquito nets. Of the 5 units, one is for families, and can accommodate 4 persons, and one is the Honeymoon suite, with sunken bath and open-air shower.

As a guest at Chundukwa, you will enjoy delicious home-cooked meals, which incorporate the freshest local produce. Dinners are hosted by the owners, and you get the chance to discuss the days happenings, and plan additional activities.

There are a number of activities, both at the lodge, and in the area. You can enjoy canoeing trips on the River, which range from 2 hours, to a full day. You might also opt for a short safari, with 2 nights at the Lodge, and 2 nights on a canoe trip. Horse Trails are also available, with half- or full-day options.

There are optional additional game drives in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, and excursions to local markets, and museums. For golfers, there is an excellent course in nearby Livingstone. If you are more adventurous, white water rafting, and a host of other adrenalin activities can also be arranged. This is an area where there is a lot happening, and much to choose from. Chundukwa is an excellent base for enjoying the area, which is why a two or three night stay is recommended.
