Safaris in
the Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park
Acknowledged as the most successful, stable and peaceful of All the African Countries, Botswana is home to the Okavango Delta, Kalahari Desert, the Chobe National Park and Moremi Game Reserve.

The World's largest
producer of gem quality diamonds, Botswana's has been allowed to develop its tourism
without the desperate need for revenues that face other African countries. An eco-tourism
policy has resulted in visitors being able to experience an Africa at its most natural,
unspoilt and stunningly beautiful.
In the north-west, covering some 16,000 square kilometres, is the maze of channels, lagoons and palm-covered islands that make up the Okavango Delta. The Okavango never fails to impress even the most jaded of travellers.
Home to nearly 500 different species of birds, and a vast array of wildlife, the Okavango offers the opportunity
to explore not only in 4x4's but on foot and by mokorro - a dug-out canoe, hewn from
either ebony or sausage-tree, and poled by your personal Guide.
No where else in Africa can you be so 'at one' with the environment and in harmony with the rhythms of the 'wild'.
On the eastern side of the Delta lies the Moremi Game Reserve where large areas of dry land are interspersed between the wetlands. Here you can experience excellent savannah game viewing by 4x4, as well as bird-watching on the lagoons.
To the
north-west lies the Chobe National Park,where the varied landscape and permanent waters
ensure large concentrations of game and their predators. The riverine forests are rich in
bird-life and renowned for the huge herds of elephant
Over two thirds of Botswana's land mass is covered by the Kalahari. This huge sand-filled basin is home to the San (Bushmen). At the edge of the Kalahari, the surreal landscape of the Makgadikgadi Pans offers intense and shimmering mirages during the dry winter (June - October).
These salt pans were originally vast lakes which dried out several million
years ago. During the Summer (november - March) when the seasonal rainfall arrives, the
grass bordering the pans turns green and herds of wildebeest, zebra and other antelope
gravitate in their thousands to this fresh source of food. Large numbers of flamingos, as
well as pelicans, ducks and geese also arrive to feed on the algae and minute crustations.
Travel throughout these different
regions of Botswana is facilitated by the wide availability of light aircraft, with every
Camp or lodge having its own landing strip.
It is therefore advisable to design an itinerary which enables you to visit two or three lodges in different regions.
