Camp Okuti - Okavango Delta

Camp Okuti Chalet interior

A total rebuild of Okuti has just been completed. The new Lodge is in the same position as the original – alongside the Maunachira River, as it flows into the Xakanaxa Lagoon, in the famous and beautiful Moremi Game Reserve.

Okuti is still family friendly – and has 5 units for couples, and 2 additional units which have 2 bedrooms, and can thus accommodate 4 guests, therefore making it excellent for parents with children. All accommodation is en suite. The units are of a modern design, and are insect proofed.

The lodge also has an open-air Boma, ideal for dinners around the campfire.

Camp Okuti Chalet Guests enjoy game drives in the Game Reserve in specially designed vehicles, which allow for excellent all round views of the scenery, and wildlife – and great photographic opportunities. The Moremi is well known for its abundant wildlife, and game viewing can be good all year round, and there are a variety of habitats to explore. In addition to game drives, you can also explore the nearby waterways by motorboat – also an excellent way to spot the prolific and diverse bird life. There are also seasonal excursions to the Gadikwe Heronry.

At the Lodge, you can relax and unwind at the small swimming pool.

Okuti is also an excellent Lodge for self-drive enthusiasts.

What we liked best about this camp was the eagerness of the management to please and the overall friendliness of the staff as well as the staff entertainment one of the two nights we were there (native singing and dancing).  The food here was excellent although Skip found the Botswana beef he had to be a bit gamey.  The room was spacious and we loved the morning coffee/tea service that came with the wakeup knock.  We found the room to be hot in the afternoon due to the plastic outer walls not being shaded from the sun and this was not even the hot season.  And, the look of the lodge from the outside was not in keeping with image of an African Safari lodge.  The guide here was very good although he did not speak up very loudly.  We saw the most lions of anywhere on our trip and the only leopard (in the camp); the overall variety of game here is very good as well.  The camp is very well managed and the size is nice.
