Islands of Siankaba Facilities The two islands are linked by a suspension bridge and overhead walkway in the tree canopy. A classic forested retreat, seven secluded chalets linked by a footbridge to dining room offering haute cuisine and a bar area. The uniquely designed chalets are constructed of teak and custom-made canvas tenting and are raised well above ground levels in the tree canopy. Private balconies extend over the river. SAVUTE SAFARI LODGE In the heart of Botswana's Chobe National Park lies a dynamic wilderness, a sweeping expanse of savannah brooded over by seven rocky outcrops that guard a relic marsh and the dry channel that was once its lifeline. Mysterious wet and dry cycles mould this landscape and dictate the nature of its wild inhabitants. This is Savute and for the moment the channel is dry. Savute Safari Lodge peers out from ancient camel thorn trees on the shore of the channel.
The lounge, library and cocktail bar are situated in the exquisite thatch and timber main building, where an upstairs viewing deck allows Savute's enchanting sunsets to mesmerise guests. Enjoy a leisurely buffet lunch and a little later this afternoon your guide will take you on a Mokoro excursion where you explore the channels which have excellent birdlife. There is also a chance of seeing Hippo, Elephant and Crocodile as well as numerous antelope species. While on your activity enjoy sundowners while in the Mokoro and watch the sun sizzles as it sets on the waterways. Return to the camp in time to freshen up before a delicious dinner on the Xugana Lagoon which is the largest lagoon in the Okavango Delta.

Xugana Island Lodge Attractions Xugana Lagoon is widely accepted as being the most spectacular permanent water site in the entire Okavango Delta. Xugana Island Lodge, situated on a wooded island abutting the lagoon, takes full advantage of this magnificent site. The thatched common area, comprising cocktail bar, lounge and curio shop, is still the original building put up in 1974, when Xugana became only the second tourist lodge ever built in the Okavango Delta. Meals, for which the lodge is justly famous, are taken alfresco on the edge of the lagoon, except on those rare occasions of rain when the lounge doubles as the dining-room. Tea is often served in the garden inside the island, where quiet, secluded reading benches can also be found. The lodge accommodates a maximum of 16 guests in raised reed and thatch "Mesasas" situated on the shaded fringe of the island, each with a lagoon view through the artfully cleared lagoon-side vegetation. The tastefully decorated "Mesasas" have twin or double beds, en-suite facilities, ceiling fan and a private deck. Xugana Island Lodge Additional Information Mokoro trips in eco-friendly dugout canoes built to the traditional design, boat safaris to lagoons and islands and wilderness walks give guests the chance to see the Delta denizens such as sitatunga and lechwe antelope, crocodile and hippo, as well as the other big game that frequents the islands and riverine fringes. XAKANAXA CAMP Xakanaxa Camp Location Xakanaxa is located 50 kilometres to the west of the Khwai Gate in the northern sector of the Moremi Wildlife Reserve. To the north and west of the camp are the permanent lagoons and waterways of the Okavango, and to the south and east are the dry woodlands. Some 90 kilometres by road or a half hours flight from Maun is Xakanaxa, nestled in the shade of huge kigelia (sausage) and mopane trees, a stone's throw from the edge of Xakanaxa Lagoon. Xakanaxa Camp Activities Game drives, Mokoro and motorized boat Xakanaxa has one of the best locations in Botswana and is the original camp at Xakanaxa (pronounced Ka-Kan-A-Ka). Set in the heart of the Moremi Wildlife Reserve which is rated as being one of the finest game-viewing areas in Africa, incorporating most of the Delta water and a vast selection of exotic wildlife. To the south and east the reserve offers sanctuary to the most varied herds in Southern Africa. To the north and west of the lodge are the permanent lagoons and waterways of the Okavango.
The game drives through this sector of Moremi take one through a large variety of different vegetation types, down winding tracks, through mopane forests and across lush grasslands. The waterways are either forded by vehicles or crossed on rustic log bridges. The camp faces out over the Xakanaxa lagoon on the Khwai River, where boat trips lead into the sinuous channels of the Delta; one of Africa's greatest natural wonders. Game in the area includes just about everything imaginable and game to be seen on the game drives include tsessebe, lechwe, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, elephant, sable and giraffe.
The predators are prevalent and lion are often heard calling in the early morning. Leopard, wild dog and hyena are often sighted. Birding in the area is excellent, especially in the spring and summer months when the migrants are breeding. To the north are the world-famous heronries which attract large numbers of breeding storks and herons. In the summer months the fishing is very good. Mainly bream (Tilapia) but there are also tiger fish. Boat trips and game drives are conducted by a team of experienced professional guides. Xakanaxa Camp Facilities The camp offers twelve luxury spacious safari tents set on wooden platforms near the water, each set on a concrete base, and furnished with two beds, a table and chairs. There's a reed-walled dining room and bar, hot and cold water showers and flush toilets. Light is supplied by hurricane lamps.
