Botswana & Zambia and Victoria Falls

This fourteen night package permits you to experience Africa as it should be experienced - on foot or dug-out canoe accompanied by a highly experienced Guide.

3 nights Delta Camp in the heart of the Okavango Delta
9 nights in the Luangwa National Park, Zambia, including five nights on a mobile walking safari with Robin Pope Walking Safaris
2 nights Victoria Falls staying at the Chundukwa Tree Lodge on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls

A scheduled Air flight on Air Botswana from Johannesburg to Maun, followed by a light aircraft flight over the Okavango Delta.

Delta Camp is one of the original luxury lodges built in Africa, and is frequented by the cognoscenti wishing to get as close to nature as possible. The Camp is very protective of the environment, using only natural materials in the construction, ensuring that all waste is taken out of the Delta and prohibiting any motorboats from spoiling the natural sounds of the Okavango.

Overlooking the Boro, one of the main waterways of the Okavango, Delta Camp is imaginatively built from locally-sourced natural materials. Your private 'reed' bungalow has the "most comfortable beds in Africa" - (at least according to our many guests who have raved about Delta Camp), electric lights, showers with continuous hot water, and flushing toilet. It is hard to imagine surrounded by this comfort that you are in fact 65Km into the bush!

Your safaris from Delta Camp will be the most interesting during your holiday. You will explore the intricate and stunningly beautiful waterways of the Okavango Delta by mokoro, a dug out canoe poled by your personal Guide. This is a truly magical experience, allowing you to view the abundant bird-life at very close range. Floating through beds of water-lilies, watching antelope, zebra, giraffe and perhaps the occasional cheetah, your memories of Delta Camp will remain with you for ever.

Walking Safaris are also featured at Delta Camp. Even the most satiated safari-goers will tell you that tracking and viewing wildlife on foot is 'the only way to go!' Accompanied by your personal experienced and qualified Guide, you will, in all safety and security, become part of the African landscape.

After three nights at Delta Camp, you will fly directly to Mfuwe Airport where you will be met by Nkwali staff and transferred to Nkwali Camp (1 hour) where you will spend two nights.

On your third day, after an early breakfast, head north to the Mupamadzi River - some 90 km's along a bush road, through the National Park. Arrive in camp for an early lunch around midday. A short walk in the afternoon around the camp and dinner under the stars!

Day 3 - up at sunrise for the morning walk. The mobile camp will be pack and moved to Camp 2 and lunch will be ready as the guests arrive late morning. Lunch, siesta and afternoon walk.

Day 4 - explore the area on foot - returning to the same camp site.

Day 5 - the camp will be moved again, to camp 3 during the morning as you walk further down the river.

Day 6 - explore the area on foot - returning to the same camp site.

Day 7 - after an early breakfast, transfer to the Luangwa River, opposite Tena Tena. This is a 4 to 5 hour transfer returning back down the same road for the most part. Tena Tena staff will boat the party across the river, and then a short 20 transfer to Tena Tena Camp for a two night stay before transferring to Mfuwe airport (1.5 hours) and a short flight to Livingstone

The majestic Victoria Falls are a 'must' for any visitor to Africa, but unfortunately the town of Victoria Falls has become a bustling, noisy and a rather unpleasant location, which is fine for those privileged enough to be isolated by the five star luxury of the Victoria Falls Hotel, but otherwise is a place to avoid except when visiting the Falls themselves.

We have chosen Chundukwa Tree Lodge on the Zambian side of the Falls for our guests seeking a more sympathetic environment "far from the madding crowd". Within easy reach of Victoria Falls (30Km drive) and set on the banks of the Zambezi on the Zambian side of the river, it is a highly personalised Camp, accommodating a maximum of 8 persons in individually designed and easily accessible Tree Houses

During your two night stay you and your party will have extensive opportunities to explore the Falls. The more adventurous can partake in white water rafting, bungi jumping or even surfing the rapids. The world famous 'Flight of the Angels' is well worth doing. You will also go out on safari in the Livingstone National Park and visit the Falls, accompanied by your personal Guide

After two nights at Chundukwa Tree Lodge, you will transfer by car to Victoria Falls Airport for your return flight.to Johannesburg

For those with more time to spare, we propose following your Eco Safari with a four or seven day rest on the Island of Benguerra, staying at the Benguerra Lodge. Here you can repose your weary limbs, fish, dive or just explore this unspoilt tropical island.
