Jack's Camp was originally established by the late Jack Bousfield while on a trapping expedition in the 1960's. The choice of such striking locale owed much to his original taste for the savage beauty of a forgotten Africa.

Situated on Hyena Island, Makgadikgadi is a real bush camp offering the very essence of Africa. Accommodation is in comfortable twin-bedded cottage tents secluded among palms and acacias. Resting in the southern tip of Sua Pan, this small rocky outcrop was once an island in the great Lake Makgadikgadi.

The Camp is set overlooking a water-filled pan surrounded by ancient lead-wood trees that provide much needed shade. All the tents are Meru tents on raised wooden platforms under thatch for coolness. The main area is also thatched also on a platform. Number of tents are 4 and the total capacity is 8 .

The Camp is situated in the south western section of Nxai Pan National Park, overlooking a waterhole at the edge of the Pan itself. Nxai Pan National Park has been a protected area for over 30 years, and the Park, along with Makgadikgadi Pans National Park were joined in 1992.

The Camp is in the extensive and unique Central Kalahari Game Reserve, and is set on the edge of the beautiful Tau (meaning Lion) Pan. The Kalahari Desert is the largest sand basin in the world, and stretches some 2 500 kilometres from the northern regions of South Africa through to Namibia, Angola, and into the Democratic Republic of Congo.
